The Eagle has Landed in Newport!
Another amazing sailing vessel arrived in Newport yesterday, the 295 foot square-rigged Tall Ship, Eagle! Originally called Horst Wessel she was built in Germany in 1936. After World War II, she was distributed to the United States as a war reparation and was commissioned as the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle on 15 May 1946. The Eagle will be open to the public for tours all weekend. Come to Newport and check out this amazing sailing vessel!
