12 Meter Yacht Club Racing in Newport!

Earlier this month, 12 Meter Charters welcomed aboard the 5th Annual Eastern Connecticut 12 Meter Challenge in Newport.  Yacht Clubs from Connecticut including Essex Corinthian Yacht Club, North Cove Yacht Club, Thames Yacht Club, Baldwin Yacht Club and Pettipaug Yacht Club competed aboard six 12 Meter yachts in Narragansett Bay.  After four races and lots of friendly competition, the North Cove Yacht Club took home top honors winning the regatta.  Second place went to Essex Corinthian Yacht Club aboard Columbia and third to the Baldwin Yacht Club aboard Heritage.  It was a fabulous day of sailing and racing in Newport, here are some great shots from the day.  Thank you to all who joined us!

Team Heritage Gets Race Ready!

Heritage gets ready to race in Nantucket!  Getting the race sails loaded and spin pole on board, the Heritage team was busy this week getting ready to rumble in Nantucket.  US 23 and crew will head to Nantucket on Friday where she will join Columbia who sailed there earlier this week.  Both Columbia and Heritage will be completing in the 41st Annual Opera House Cup on Sunday.  Good Luck to our12 Meter Teams!

 

12 Meter Yachts Doing What They Do Best...Racing!

Yesterday was a beautiful Sunday afternoon for 12 Meter Racing!  With little to no wind all morning the breeze came up just enough for our 3:00pm departure.  It was an America's Cup 12 Meter match race with 1958's Columbia pitted against 1970's Heritage.  With 12-15 sailing enthusiasts aboard the racing began!  After the two leg race Columbia came out on top winning the day's regatta.  Don't worry Team Heritage - there will be a rematch!

NYYC Annual Regatta - Columbia Wins!

It was a winning weekend for Team Columbia!  Our America's Cup winner, was a winner again taking home first place in the Traditional 12 Metre Division of the New York Yacht Club's 159th Annual Regatta.  After placing second in the first race of the regatta, is was all bullets for Columbia.  She dominated her competition winning the second, third and final race of the regatta.

What a wonderful way to start the 2013 racing season.  Next up is the Newport Regatta in July, stay tuned for results.  Sail fast Team Columbia!

New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta - Sail Fast Team Columbia!

We are all about sailing speed today in Newport, Rhode Island!  12 Meter Columbia is prepped, practiced and race ready to complete in the New York Yacht Club's 159th Annual Regatta.  America's oldest regatta, this year's NYYC Annual Regatta has over 150 boats registered.  Racing starts today, Friday, June 14 with an Around-the-Island Race sailing around Conanicut Island.  Tomorrow and Sunday will feature multiple 12 Metre fleet races in Narragansett Bay.  Look for our America's Cup Winner, Columbia on the race course this weekend in Newport!  Sail fast Team Columbia!

Columbia Wins in Newport!

Columbia wins the 2012 North American Championships!  

The three day competition started last Friday and Columbia came out with a bang!  On day one Team Columbia stunned her competition winning 3 of 3 races.  After winning 2 of 3 races on day two she had all but sealed her victory.  Congrats Team Columbia!

The 12 Meter North American Championships will start today and end on Sunday, September 23 in Newport!  Eight 12 Meter yachts (complete list below) will compete in the regatta with big name sailors on board including Ted Turner and Dennis Conner.  The boats will be dock at Bannister's Wharf through Sunday so come on down to Newport and check out the America's Cup greats.  We know who we will be cheering for - Go Team Columbia, US 16!

Columbia Wins in Nantucket!

Columbia stunned her competition in Nantucket!  Last Thursday and Friday America's Cup winner, Columbia, competed in the 2012 Nantucket Regatta.  In the two day regatta there were four races.  Columbia got three bullets and a second.  This speedy performance made her the 2012 Nantucket Traditional 12 Meter Regatta Winner.  Go Team Columbia!

Columbia Wins in Martha's Vineyard!

After the first day of racing at the 2012 Edgartown 12 Meter Regatta in Martha's Vineyard, there was a three way tie for first place.  On day two of racing Columbia sailed away from her competition winning two races and getting second in third race.  Team Columbia's speedy performance on day two made her the winner of the 2012 Edgartown 12 Meter Regatta.  Way to go Team Columbia!  For complete results visit the Edgartown Yacht Club website.

Columbia Hits the Road!

Under blue skies and fair winds Columbia left Newport harbor yesterday morning!  For the next 10 days she will be on the "road" racing in Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.  First up is the Edgartown 12 Meter Regatta.  Then, she will island hop over to Nantucket for the Nantucket 12 Meter Regatta.  Finally, she will compete in the 40th Annual Opera House Cup.  Sail fast TEAM COLUMBIA!

Columbia Wins in Newport!

It was a fast weekend of racing in Newport for America's Cup Winner Columbia!  Team Columbia dominated the fleet, finishing 1st in three races and 2nd place in one race.  Her victories made her the overall winner of the Traditional 12 Meter Class in the New York Yacht Club's Race Week at Newport.  Congrats Team Columbia!
